Perioperative pathway, patient risk factors
Observational data collection and patient questionnaire study

Which patients:

The trial is looking at elective major non-cardiac surgeries.  For Rotherham patients we will include hip or knee joint revisions, vaginal hysterectomy with anterior repair, vaginal/lap/open hysterectomy with salpingo-oophrectomy, percutaneous nephrolithomy, abdominal wall reconstruction and various lower GI surgeries.

​Data is collected on aspects of their anaesthetic and perioperative care pathway.
The patients complete questionnaires including common post anaesthetic side effects and their satisfaction with their anaesthetic care.
Consent will be gained by the research team and all care is standard practice.
 

inclusion criteria:

  • Adult patients aged 18 or older
  • Undergoing an elective major surgical procedure (see Appendix 5 for list of included procedures)
  • Has capacity to give consent to participate in this study

exclusion criteria: 

  • Aged less than 18years
  • Does not have capacity, or refuses, to give consent to participate in this study

Consent:

Consent will be gained by the research team and all care is standard practice.
