research topic:

Questionnaire for relatives of patients on critical care to investigate how relatives of ICU patients influence and participate in treatment decisions when patients lack capacity, examining communication practices, conflicts, and the application of the Mental Capacity Act to develop better guidance for shared decision-making.

inclusion criteria:

• >18 years old, competent to freely engage with the study 
  
• Presumed capacity by completing the questionniaire.

exclusion criteria:

• Minors and any adults who are known not to be able to consent to participate.
  
• Those who are not sufficiently fluent in the English language.

consent:

Consent is shown by the voluntary completion and submission of the questionnare after reading the participant information sheet.

Questionnaires will be kept behind the ICU nurses station and in the relatives room - please give to relatives visiting patients on critical care if able.
