NIHR portfolio studies - open to recruitment:

Picture
OPACE Trial
Principal Investigator: Dr Mark Longshaw
Sponsor: University of Cambridge
This trial aims to find out how best to use azithromycin in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Picture
RAPID Rescue: Supported rescue packs post-discharge in COPD
Principal Investigator: Jacqueline Pollington
Co-Sponsors: Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust/King's College London
This study will test the hypothesis that a self-supported rescue pack management plan consisting of rescue packs + written self management plan + twice weekly telephone/text symptom alert assessments in the high risk 90 day period is better than standard care in reducing 90 day readmission by 20 %.

NIHR portfoliio studies - in set up:

CORMORANT
Principal Investigator: Samantha Horton
Sponsor: The University of Oxford
N-Tidal Diagnose is a device that uses CO2 waveforms recorded during relaxed tidal breathing with artificial intelligence algorithms to assess the likelihood of COPD. As a five minute, easy-to-perform test, it could be used to support confirmation of or rule out a diagnosis of COPD and therefore it could offer an alternative to spirometry for primary care COPD diagnosis.
