The Yorkshire Cancer Research Bowel Cancer Improvement Programme (YCR BCIP) is a five-year study to improve outcomes for patients with bowel cancer across the Yorkshire and Humber.

A study in patients undergoing bowel operations comparing a single dose of antibiotic before an operation to continuous dosing of antibiotic throughout an operation in preventing infections after operations.

This study will evaluate the venous thromboembolism (VTE) rates with or without the use of Graduated Compression Stockings in addition to giving blood thinning medication post discharge from hospital for surgical patients at highest risk from VTE.
